Sažetak
Cadmium and lead are toxic metals with maximal allowed concentration in wastewater of 2 mg/L. The accumulation of these metal ions on the ion exchange resins may be simple and selective. Optimal conditions for separation and elution of metal ions sould not be anticipated by the Gregor model of ion exchange. Therefore optimal conditions, with respect to pH of the medium and the temperature, for the metal separation and elution have been experimentally determined. Two systems were investigated: Lead-Amberlit-LR-120 and Cadmium-Amberli-LR-120 for the temperature interval from 293 to 343 K and in nitric acid and hydrochloric acid media. Values of distribution constants and coefficients that were obtained show that cadmium(II) is optimally sorbed in 0, 02 M HNO3 and at 323 K, and eluted with 2, 0 M HCl at 323 K. Lead(II) is optimally sorbed at 0, 01 M HNO3 and 293 K, and eluted with 4, 0 M HCl at 323 K. The values that were obtained for the distribution constants make possible the removal of cadmium and lead from the wastewater.
