Sažetak
The division of the EU into core and periphery reflects not only the deep-rooted economic differences between member states, but also the historical and geopolitical contexts under which they joined the EU. While numerous analyses in the wake of the Eurozone crisis dealt with core- periphery relations, it is argued here that the interpretation of various crises that shook the foundation of the EU should also include the analysis of historical cleavages within newer member states and their relations with the EU.
