Sažetak
Cariology is the science and art of understanding the etiology and mechanisms of the dental caries, including initiation reversal, progression, diagnosis, prognosis, risk management, prevention, non-surgical and surgical therapies and oral health-focused outcomes. Cariology is a major part of the science called pathology of the hard dental tissues, which encompasses both anomalies of the tooth occurring before and during tooth eruption and post-eruptive pathological conditions. Post- eruptive pathologies of hard dental tissues include tooth wear, tooth resorption and discoloration of teeth. Each of these will be discussed here in more detail.
