Sažetak
After some decades of epistemological domination of the "linguistic paradigm" which conceived language as the main factor and medium of individual and social (re)production of identity and knowledge in the historical theory, the beginning of the 21st century brought into the fore a need to revise the culturalist interpretation of historical existence and agency alongside post-semiotic lines.From that perspective, the main aim of this paper is questioning whether there have risen epistemological prerequisites for theoretical and practical, research-oriented rehabilitation of the concept of mentality, abundantly used by representatives of the first and third generations of the French Annales school.
