Sažetak
The development path of a formal analysis distinguishes three characteristic phases: form as proportion, form as space and form as structure. The first perspective is the result of a presumption that proportions as such guarantee a satisfactory architectural form. The second perspective uses the term „space“ in order to break architecture down to a single dimension which is then used to describe it. The third perspective considers architectural form as a whole encompassing many different factors. In accordance with the change of perspective in relation to the form, the role of architects has also changed over time from the ability to realize forms deriving from laws of science to the ability to create form with the sphere of realization remaining within the frame of modern techniques and technology. Today's theoretical inadequacy regarding the role of techniques and technology in architecture is partially the result of the lack of a relevant theoretical foundation.
