Sažetak
With his monograph Introduction to Romanticism (Uvod u romantizam), Marijan Bobinac undertook a comparative venture. The research on Romanticism in countries that adopted the movement reveals the layered character of the period in its stylistic survival through the paradox of adaptability. From this group, I have chosen the French and Croatian Romanticism to be the focus of this paper. At first glance, the clear and unmistakable boundaries of Romanticism become porous and soft by a more careful consideration of literary periodization, and art in general, which confirms the thesis that Romanticism is less drastic in practice than in its own theories and is more closely related to periods and styles in the periodization series.
