Sažetak
The first section of this work examines the problem of computerization of Croatian society from a theoretical viewpoint. The subsequent section deals with the results of one part of a study on the computerization of schools that is being conducted in the region of Istria. The entry of Croatia into the information society would result in greater insight into scientific and education development on a global level. Entry into this domain would also affect Croatian education institutions, which would lead to the abandonment of classic education standards with the creation of new ones. The computerization of Croatian education institutions is one of the key concepts for raising the quality of teacher education in our country, as well as a significant segment in the desired development of computers as an integral part of Croatian society as a whole Scientific studies of education theory and practice, as well as the systematic approach to the problem of computerization, is one of the possible courses of action for the improvement of our computer infrastructure and education, not to mention our survival in the knowledge society. The results of the conducted study highlight a series of important questions that need to be resolved in order to raise the quality of education to a higher level. Through the computerization of educational institutions and teacher education this could be achieved, as well as becoming active participants in the computerization of Croatian society as a whole.
