Sažetak
Relationship fairness is often conceived and assessed in terms of effects of equity and as a nonlinear variable. However, partners’ justice concerns may include a number of principles and criteria and reflect in an overall assessment of the relationship fairness. This paper reports the results of two studies with marital partners that were designed to assess the equivalence of the overall perception of relationship fairness with regard to partners’ gender as well as its relationship with marital satisfaction and stability. The Perceived Relationship Fairness Scale (PRF, Cubela Adoric, 2006) was administered in two samples from Croatian population along with measures of marital satisfaction and stability. For all measures, the observed distributions were not found to deviate significantly from the normal distribution. The results of the multigroup confirmatory factor analysis of the PRF scale provide support for its metric invariance across the two samples and the subsamples of male and female respondents. As expected, perceived fairness was found to covary with reported marital satisfaction and stability, suggesting that this measure provides a valid assessment of relationship global fairness and overall quality. While it does not report on the direction of perceived unfairness, researchers may find it useful as a measure of another yet conceptually closer indicator of relationship quality.
