This contribution is an attempt to present the Croatian way in the direction of the Austro- Hungarian dualism during the 1860s and early 1870s from the perspective of contemporaries who left relevant views on political, economic, social, cultural, and other circumstances of the time. The article is based on published sources, political brochures, and similar publications, including some citations from selected newspapers.
