Sažetak
This doctoral dissertation investigates the interdependence of “tourist experience”, “tourist satisfaction with the stay in a campsite”, “environmental attitude” and “environmentally responsible behaviour” of tourists in campsites. The objectives of this doctoral dissertation are to define the above terms ; develop a conceptual model of the interrelationship of the tourist experience, the tourists’ satisfaction with the campsite, their environmental attitude, and their environmentally responsible behaviour ; test the conceptual model ; and determine the relationship between the basic constructs as well as the mediatory influence of environmental attitudes, which mediate the relationship between “tourist experience” and “environmentally responsible behaviour”, using the data collected through empirical research. The conceptual model was created on the basis of the findings of relevant scientific research and was tested using empirical research. The data were collected using the questionnaire method, with 48 variables measured using a 7-point Likert scale. The data analysis was conducted on a sample of 932 tourists in campsites, using univariate, bivariate and multivariate statistical analysis. The credibility of the structural model was tested using the partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The results of the research confirm three out of four set hypotheses. A positive relationship was established between “tourist experience” and “environmentally responsible behaviour” of tourists in campsites, as well as between “tourist experience” and “tourist satisfaction with the stay in a campsite”. Furthermore, the mediatory influence of “environmental attitude” was established, which mediates the relationship between “tourist experience” and “environmentally responsible behaviour”. The hypothesis on the positive relationship between “tourist satisfaction with the stay in a campsite” and tourists’ “environmentally responsible behaviour” was not confirmed. The doctoral dissertation contributes to the development of scientific findings on the relationship between the tourist experience in campsites, the satisfaction of tourists with their stay in a campsite, their environmental attitudes, and their environmentally responsible behaviour, and represents a starting point for future research. Concerning their application, the research results present a basis for the development of marketing strategies aimed at improving the tourist experience in campsites and the environmentally responsible behaviour of tourists.
