Sažetak
This paper studies motivated lexemes formed with sans- (French) and bez- (Croatian). These two elements are similar in that they both originated from prepositions (sans and bez, respectfully), and have a similar meaning which could be paraphrased as ‘without’. As part of this study, we shall analyse two large web corpora, frWaC and hrWaC, to see how many such formations there are and what their formal and semantic properties are. On the basis of such an analysis, we shall try to answer the question of whether these two elements behave similarly or differently, and whether they can be considered as “true” prefixes.
