Sažetak
Thermoregulation in poultry can be challenging in hot weather, leading to compromised growing and feed consumption. Heat stress negatively affect the poultry production. Furthurmore, prolonged exposure broilers to heat stress can cause production losses and mortality in birds. The main goal of the trial was to determine if the lactose and electrolytes addition could attenuate the negative impact of the heat stress. The experiment was performed on 1000 broilers of Ross provenance for 38 days. The broilers were divided into two groups, 500 broilers each, and fed a standard mixture for fattening broilers. A mixture of lactose and electrolytes (potassium, sodium and magnesium ; LOVIT®, Kaesler Nutrition, Germany) was mixed into the water of the experimental group. The broilers of the experimental group achieved a significantly (P <0.01) higher daily gain, a total of 7.45%. The control group needed 7.44% more food per kilogram of weight gain by day 18 of the experiment, while in the second part of the trial the food conversion was similar in both groups. Total feed conversion during 38 days of the trial was better in the experimental group compared to the control group (1.51:1.53 kg/kg). Mortality was 55% lower in the experimental group compared to the control.
