Sažetak
The research on the incidence and consequences of exposure of Roma women to domestic violence in Roma families and the attitude of victims towards reporting violence was conducted by one-time research on the type of so-called draft "cross section" at one point in time (spring 2020) by survey method, and on a proportional, stratified sample of 350 Roma women from 12 "Roma settlements" in the area of Međimurje County. The research determined the prevalence of exposure of Roma women to domestic violence, the place of experiencing violence, the presence of physical signs and consequences of violence on the body, the willingness of Roma women to report violence and the reasons for not reporting and detected persons of the greatest confidence of the victims after the violence experienced. Over 2/5 (40.6%) Romani women suffered bruises during the violence, while open wounds or sprains were less common (12.9%), concussions or head injuries (9.4%), or bone fractures (9, 4%). Own home is by far the most common place where Roma women are subjected to violence, and this was stated by 64.0% of respondents, while the second most common place is another closed facility or someone else's home (24.9%). Furthermore 46.6% of respondents cite shame as the most common reason for not reporting violence, and the same number said that they did not want others to find out about the violence (46.6%), among other things because they believe they are to blame for the violence. as a reason for non-reporting (41.1%).
