Sažetak
Supplementing previous research and theorizing on the relationship between disgust sensitivity (DS) and attitudes towards gay and lesbian people, the current study examined the relative contribution of DS in pathogen, sexual, and moral domains in explaining the variance of different dimensions of negative attitudes towards homosexuality. Croatian versions of the Three Domains Disgust Scale (TDDS, Tybur et al., 2009) and the Components of Attitudes Toward Homosexuality Scale (CATH, LaMar & Kite, 1998) were administered in a sample of 160 students at the University of Zadar. The expected positive correlations were observed for pathogen and sexual DS. Accordingly, sexual DS consistently predicted CATH dimensions. Pathogen DS independently contributed to the prediction of the dimensions of gay and lesbian condemnation, morality, and contact. Moral DS did not correlate with CATH, including its morality dimensions, suggesting that the responses to social transgressions, as assessed with the TDDS moral subscale, are not related to moral issues implied by the corresponding subscales of CATH. This pattern again raises the question of the TDDS moral subscale construct validity.
