Sažetak
Heavy metal art is uncompromising in its celebration of life (Dionysian), but it also contains Apollonian aspects, such as discipline and reason. Heavy metal poetry includes a lot of controversial topics and topics that are not so pleasant and usual. This is one of the reasons why Heavy metal culture had a bad reputation. One of the topics that metal poetry deals with are pandemic, viruses, plague, etc. In my lecture, I will show some examples of such poetry. Slayer creates the song "Epidemic" in 1986s, one year later Nuclear Assault record "The Plague" ; Immolation sings about “Fall in Disease” (1991), Iron Maiden in 1996. the released song “Virus”. There is a lot of metal songs on this topic, some of them are: Disturbed, “Down With the Sickness” (2000), Annihilator "The Perfect Virus"(2001), Demon Hunter, “Infected” (2002), Judas Priest' s „Pestilence and Plague" ; (2007), Cannibal Corpse, “Evisceration Plague” (2009), Accept "Pandemic" (2010), Ne Obliviscaris “And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope” (2012), Cattle Decapitation, “Plagueborne” (2015), etc. Also, I will show the influences of this disease metal poetry in literature and art.
