Sažetak
Cruising tourism is one of the world's leading businesses involving many multinational companies and is one of the largest growing sectors in the tourism industry. Globally, in 2017, the cruising industry accumulated 28.5 million passengers, 1, 108, 676 jobs, and $45.6 billion through salaries and compensations to employees directly or indirectly related to the cruising industry. According to experts' annual reports, the largest increase in passengers is expected in Europe. However, as a significant income source for some destinations, cruise tourism must ensure a sustainable impact. More recently, the large fluctuation of cruise passengers entails a high possibility of an outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, the cruising industry in 2020 experienced an exceptional drop in revenue and is one of the branches of tourism most affected. This paper aims to analyze cruise tourism in the five busiest cruise ship ports of call in the Mediterranean. The paper analyses the data referring to the number of passengers and ships in these ports. The study covers cruise flow trends from 2015 to 2023, when it is believed that the cruising industry could recover from the pandemic to a certain extent. Based on the above's mental and verbal findings, the selected model variables were quantified on an index scale from zero to 100. Taking everything into account, a matrix-based model is formed, focusing on direct growth rates for the period up to 2023. Simultaneously, the presentation of direct and indirect rates can be monitored through changes in the intensity of variables and their structural relationships.
