Sažetak
Electricity produced from the photovoltaic (PV) power plant reduces the total amount of electricity bought from the network and gives the user possibility to sell surplus of generated electricity. In relation to the profitability of investments, the expected electricity consumption of the observed object, the expected production of electricity from PV system and the sale and repurchase price of electricity, it is important to determine the optimal size of the PV power plant. This paper lists the relationships and methods of certain values calculation needed to determine the optimal size through a mathematical model. This includes the sale and purchase price of electricity in the Republic of Croatia, the prices of investment for PV modules, inverters, installation and maintenance, and potential solar energy based on the location of the facilities, etc. Observed mathematical model was applied in the case of a family household and the optimal size of the of PV system has been determined. Obtained results help in defining the level of investments in PV system.
