Sažetak
One of the most significant commercial application of natural zeolites is the removal of metal ions from wastewater. Some metalcomplex dyes used for dyeing wool are copper complexes. Copper toxicity and its harmful impact on the environment are well known and it is thus necessary to control its content in wastewaters after dyeing processes. This paper deal with the possibility of eliminating of copper ions from metalcomplex dyestuffs after the dyeing processes by natural zeolites. A copper (II) complex was prepared with two ligands : a 2-(2-pyridylmethylene-amino) phenol (PMAP) and 2-(2-quinolylmethylene-amino) phenol (QMAP). It was shown that various factors influence the Cu2+ bonding capacities to natural zeolites, including chemical treatment of natural zeolite, particle size of zeolites, temperature and pH conditions. Spectrophotometric methods are suggested for monitoring the copper content of in dyestuffs after treatment by natural zeolites
