Sažetak
In recent years stroke treatment, with the availability of reperfusion therapies have dramatically changed functional outcomes in stroke patients. Acute stroke treatment requires rapid and accurate identification of patients with strokes. Stroke mimics (false positive strokes) account for up to 30% of patients who are presenting with stroke symptoms. The usage of intravenous thrombolysis is safe in stroke mimics. Stroke chameleons (false negative strokes) are related to higher disability and mortality. Despite the clear distinctions between these two entities we should be aware of stroke plus syndromes, which may include both entities, such as migrainous infarction or early post-stroke seizure.
