Sažetak
Croatia is a country with a wide range of reptile and amphibian species. The number of reptiles with different types of trauma caused by humans or animals submitted to rescue centres is high each year. The animals admitted to rescue centres are usually in poor general condition and suffer from old and complex trauma, requiring good supportive therapy and individual wound management approach, not only regarding the species but also on an individual basis. Here we will present diagnostic approaches, supportive therapy, and wound management of three protected chelonian species the most commonly found injured in nature: Hermann's tortoise (Testudo hermanni), European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) and Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta). The complete therapy protocol of the most interesting cases from all three chelonian species will be presented, allowing the animals to be released back to the nature after recovery.
