Sažetak
Mucinous colorectal carcinomas showed some clinico-pathological characteristics that are not found in nonmucinous carcinomas. A total of 1451 colorectal carcinomas was analyzed. Carcinomas were divided in two groups depending on presence or absence of mucinous content. After that three independent pathologists reviewed all slides with carcinomas, which had mucinous content by microscopical morphometry and divided these carcinomas in two subgroups: mucinous carcinomas (more than 50% mucin) and colorectal carcinomas with mucin (less than 50% mucin). The following parameters were analyzed: share of mucinous colorectal cancer and cancer with mucin, sex and age distribution of all three groups of carcinomas and localization and Dukes of mucinous carcinomas and carcinomas with mucin. We confirmed that mucinous carcinomas had a poorer prognosis, predilection for the younger age group, a higher incidence in the proximal colon and no male predomination. Colorectal carcinomas with mucin had some characteristics of mucinous cancer but, on the other hand, share some of the nonmucinous cancer characteristics and could be positioned somewhere between this two different groups.
