Sažetak
The term "resilience" is used to describe children, young people and adults who achieve positive outcomes (good social functioning, mental health, etc.) despite certain risk (traumatic events, high stressors, low socioeconomic status, etc.). Resilience is the general framework of a belief system through which individuals evaluate events and situations in their environment. This allows them to define situations in their environment as a challenge and an opportunity to act with understanding, confidence and perseverance in coping with the consequences of adverse experiences through individual adaptation to a given situation. Resilient individuals are not characterized by perceived risky circumstances in which they find themselves, but by so-called "Resilience factors" such as social competence, a sense of autonomy, self-awareness, and a sense of purpose and meaning in life. The aim of the paper is to present the connection between social anxiety, resilience and functionality of young people in the period of late adolescence. Purpose is better understanding of those factors of resilience that reinforce better quality control of anxiety and quality social functioning of young people. The participants are young people aged 18 - 30 years, enrolled in the daily hospital program of the Department of Psychotherapy of the University Psychiatric Hospital Vrapce. The methodology used in the research is patient self-report. Data are processed by quantitative analysis and will be presented as that. Participants are guaranteed confidentiality, confidentiality of information, and the possibility of withdrawing from the research at any time up to the moment of data processing and without any consequences, especially during the course of their treatment, as well as seeking additional counseling and / or therapy. The contribution of this research is reflected in new insights into the concept of resilience in the context of the functionality of people experiencing social anxiety, and an empirical test of the model used in the research. Given that the model described so far has not been tested in studies of social anxiety in the Republic of Croatia, as well as in the clinical population, the contribution is visible at both the scientific and clinical levels. There is also a contribution related to the measurement instruments used in the research. Discussion and interpretation of the results will discuss some aspects of the relationship between social anxiety, the concept of resilience and the functionality of young people in late adolescence. Identifying key factors that have an impact on the level of social functioning of patients will affect a more specific prediction of treatment and the development of effective disease prevention programs.
