Sažetak
Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) theory is a metabolic theory which postulates the rules of energy acquisition and allocation throughout the life cycle of an organism. Models based on DEB theory have proved to be a powerful and versatile tool in ecology and ecotoxicology, predicting physiological responses of individuals to environmental stressors. In particular, DEB models can predict effects of physiological changes (e.g. responses to stressors such as disease) to individual growth and reproduction and, through population models, quantify population-level effects. We developed the DEB models for marbled (Procambarus virginalis) and stone crayfish (Austropotamobius torrentium) and advanced the existing models for noble (Astacus astacus) and signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus). Using given models, we will analyze the effect of exposure to theoretical stressors on native noble and stone crayfish and invasive marbled and signal crayfish. We will also incorporate experimental data on effect of sublethal pathogen infection on growth of marbled cryfish into DEB model for marbled crayfish to estimate the energetic costs of defense against pathogens.
