Sažetak
Introduction: This study reports the management of complicated crown and root fracture after traumatic dental injury in a 15-year-old patient by performing an unconventional therapeutic method with the aim of preserving the tooth vitality. Background: A 15-year-old healthy male patient comes to a Paediatric dentistry clinic because of a tooth fracture due to an accidental blow during wrestling practice. A clinical examination revealed a horizontal fracture of the crown of the left maxillary lateral incisor. A radiological examination also showed a fracture on the same tooth. Apicoectomy was performed. Biodentine was selected as a material and put on the radicular part of the tooth to preserve tooth vitality. The broken part of the tooth crown was washed with saline, the rest of the pulp inside the crown part of the pulp chamber was removed and filled with flowable composite. Furthermore, the tooth was fixated using a Ribbon bond. Follow-up: During one month, the patient came two times for a check-up. The first time, the sensibility test (Kalte test) was negative on a lateral left incisor, while central incisors had a positive test. The pain was also not noted. Two weeks after, there were still no changes and the next check-up was scheduled in a month. Conclusion: In this clinical case, the use of Biodentine has proven successful. It increased the osteogenic potential of the root and promoted the formation of dentin bridges. However, further follow-ups are needed
