Sažetak
Late Antique hilltop settlements do not form part of the research agenda in the Pannonia region, in stark contrast in the neighbouring provinces of Noricum and Dalmatia1. This situation is no doubt linked to the topography of the region, which has a marked relief only in its western and south- western part, but there are also other reasons for this state of affairs. Many hilltop settlements were occupied in prehistoric times, and it is those phases of occupation that have attracted most research, leaving the Late Antique evidence encountered on these sites often unexplore. Here, we present three sites that do not figure in the works cited above: Lonja-Gradišče and Lobor-Majka Božja Gorska (Croatia) are located south of Poetovio/Ptuj in Savia, while Velem- Szent Vid (Hungary) lies in the province of Pannonia I, north of Savaria/Szombathely (Fig. 1). The state of research at these sites and the history of their investigation, along with the structures and finds assemblages known to date, clearly show that greater attention should also be paid to the Late Antique hilltop settlements in Pannonia.
