Sažetak
Despite the structural strain, the cyclopropane ring has been found to constitute a variety of natural and synthetic compounds with potent biological activity.1 Therefore it is not surprising that synthesising cyclopropane- containing compounds was widely investigated over the years, with great attention directed at asymmetrical catalysis. Great success has been achieved using chiral auxiliaries and metal complexes, 2 especially with copper(I) complexes with bisoxazoline ligands and similar oxazoline-containing derivatives. Most of the articles focus on the use of bidentate bisoxazoline derivatives as ligands in asymmetric catalysis, leaving the use of monodentate single oxazoline containing compounds as ligands widely unexplored. Following our work on metal catalysts in which noncovalent attractive interactions induce chirality, 3 we have synthesised monodentate oxazoline ligands. In this communication we study the potential of these ligands to induce chirality via noncovalent attractive interactions. The final goal is the utilization in the copper(I) catalysed asymmetrical cyclopropanation of model substrates and precursors in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals.
