Sažetak
The author will analyze the Slovenian legal order in order to show the regulation of use of religious symbols in public sphere. Slovenia is a state with rather strict separation model, which is not so much laid down in the Constitution, but it is laid down with executive actions and by the case law of the Constitutional Court. Slovenia is among vary few European states which almost explicitly prohibit the use of religious symbols in public schools from which a conclusion can be reached that display of religious symbols in all public institutions is prohibited. However, there are exceptions that show that state neutrality cannot be interpreted so strictly. The use of religious symbols in Slovenia is, generally speaking, limited in the public sphere, especially in public institutions where it is not permitted, although there is no (except for public schools) legislative prohibiting their use.
