Sažetak
The aim of this study was to evaluate fatty acid (FA) composition of whole blood, plasma and washed erythrocytes (RBC) of captive corn snakes (Pantherophis guttatus). We determined 15 FAs in blood samples, with SFA (saturated FA) as the most represented group followed by MUFA (monounsaturated FA) and PUFA (polyunsaturated FA). The most presented FAs in this study ; C16:0, C18:0, C18:1n-9, C18:2n-6, could be explained by high representation of those FAs in chicken embryos liver and muscles. Ratios of linoleic to palmitoleic acid (C18:2n- 6/C16:1), oleic to palmitic (C18:1n-9/C16:0) in our study possibly reflect postabsorptive phase in snakes. Due to a small number of samples, future research should include comparison of a multiple samples.
