Sažetak
The potential application of nanoparticles (NPs) in medicine is under a number of challenges especially in terms of their biocompatibility, efficacy and safety. Exposure of nanoparticles to a biological medium results in their direct interaction with biomolecules causing the formation of a dynamic biomolecular layer known as the biomolecular corona. Research on the formation of the biomolecular corona plays an important role in the safe use of nanoparticles. Silver (AgNPs) and gold (AuNPs) nanoparticles have become important in modern medicine with a variety of applications in diagnostics, drug delivery systems and antimicrobial coatings. In this study, we aimed to investigate the influence of physiochemical properties of NPs on formation of protein corona with proteins of different glycosylation status (glycosylated and nonglycosylated transferrin).Binding constants and changes in proteins structures upon nano-bio interactions have been investigated using fluorescence quenching and circular dichroism (CD) methods. Obtained results pointed out that nano- bio interactions are highly depended on physiochemical properties of NPs and should be considered in designing novel nanoparticles in medicine.
