Sažetak
The study was performed to assess the relationship between intensive gonadal hormone secretion at oestrus and activities of some enzymes in serum of female pigs (gilts) undergoing intensive breeding. Blood samples of female pigs (cross-breed between Swedish Landrace and Hypor) were collected three times daily at 3-h intervals by jugular venipuncture on days 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 before the onset of the oestrus, on the day of the onset of the oestrus (day 0) and on days 1, 2 and 3 after the day of the onset of the oestrus. Serum 17b-oestradiol (17b-E) and progesterone (P) concentrations, as well as serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase, y-glutamylranferase (GGT) and alkaline phosphatase (AP) activities were determined. The results showed that the normal physiological concentrations of 17b-E and P in serum resulted in regular signs of the onset of the oestrus (day 0) in gilts. At the onset of the oestrus a signicicantly higher (P<0.01) serum AP activity and significantly lower (P<0, 001) serum GGT activity were recorded in comparison with serum AP and GGT activities on certain days of the oestrus cycle. The values of serum ALD and AST activities failed to demontstrate any significant variations during the oestrous cycle. The results suggested that three may be a relationship between the oestrus and changes in some serum enzyme activities (AP, GGT) in gilts, although these changes were within the physological range.
