Sažetak
This thesis analyzes the priorities of Croatian translators in the translation of songs from five animated movies. The translations were analyzed using the somewhat altered models of Low’s pentathlon principle and Reus’ triangle of aspects. Specifically, the songs’ rhythm, naturalness, rhyme and sense are analyzed, along with lip synchrony and visual deixis. The following songs are examined in this thesis: When You Believe (from The Prince of Egypt), Let it Go (from Frozen), Beauty and the Beast (from Beauty and the Beast), I See the Light (from Tangled) and How Far I’ll Go (from Moana). The results show that, while Croatian translators of songs in animated movies have different preferences when it comes to preserving one aspect of the ST above the other, they always tend to prioritize rhythm above everything else in translation.
