Sažetak
The uptake of nitrogen by leaves and fruit of the plum cv. Pozegaca was followed over the growing season. There were two variants in the investigation: control trees, grown in grass without regular pruning or fertilizer and the experimental treatment, in which the trees were under improved management. Nitrogen concentration was highest in young leaves, fell rapidly until the end of May and then more slowly until fruit ripening. Nitrogen concentration in young fruit was very high at first, decreased rapidly over the next 40 days and then more slowly up to ripening. Nitrogen levels were higher in both fruit and leaves of the improved treatment. The improved treatment accumulated more nitrogen in the fruit than the control because of higher N concentrations and higher fruit yield.
