Sažetak
All results suggesting the protective effect of pentagastrin were previously obtained in stressed rats. Therefore, we investigated its effect on gastric lesions in mice. Lesions were induced as described before (Ras~nen, Acta Physiol. Scand. 58, 201, 1963). Pentagastris (0.02, 0.2, 1.O mg/kg b.w.) was applied i.p. immediately before 3h- stress procedure. Control mice received an equivolume of saline (4.0 ml/kg b.w.i.p.). After sacrifice the gastric lesions were assessed as before (SIR rivet al., EJP 158, 61, 1988). Results. In comparison to the control values, pentagastrin does protect when is given in the highest dose. It was, however, uneffective in smaller doses. Conclusion. These results suggest that pentagastrin has a dose-dependent and not species related protective effect in stress. This is also consistent with well known trophic effect of gastrin in gastrointestinal tract.
