Sažetak
DNA base modifications are modified versions of nucleotides in a DNA molecule. Base modification happens when one or more chemical groups are added to the nucleobase. Different chemical groups such as methyl, car-boxyl, ethyl, etc. produce various DNA modifications. Successful detection of DNA modifications is important for understanding epigenetic processes, discovering and preventing diseases, etc.
