Sažetak
The inhabitants of Bosnia and Herzegovina were subject to influences of several cultures and civilizations, but the contact with Islam and the Turks was particularly long and its impact was particularly strong. The Turks first arrived in 1384, established the Ottoman administration in Bosnia in 1463 and in Herzegovina in 1482, and ruled these territories until 1878. The widespreading religion of Islam, along with its culture, literature, and art flourished in a peculiar way among the brotherhoods of dervishes. Compared to the central position of the Sunni ulema in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the dervishes could be considered a minority or rather minorities. Orthodox dervish brotherhoods, such as the Mevlevi, Nakshibendi, Halveti, and Kadiri, were the most exposed ones, while the heterodox brotherhoods such as the Bektashi and Hamsevi never established firm roots in the territories of today's Bosnia and Herzegovina. ʻAlī Dede b. Mustafa al-Bosnawī al-Mostarī, also known as Ali-Dede Bosnian and Ali-Dede Mostarian, belonged to the Halveti brotherhood. He is the author of the 16th century manuscript entitled Muhādarātu l-ʼawa ʻil wa musāmarātu l-awāhir (Lectures about the first things and narration about the ultimate events). The section of the manuscript entitled „About the beginnings related to singing and about the song of camel drivers” verifies the existence of a written word about music from an author domestic to Bosnia and Herzegovina. It also gives insight into the manner of thinking about music on behalf of the member of a „religious minority”.
