Sažetak
Using recent youth survey data, the authors consider how place as a variable shapes youth future plans. Results suggest that, at least in Split-Dalmatia County, a continuation of rural emigration towards urban centers in Croatia and beyond is to be expected in subsequent years. Further, these patterns appear to be highly gendered, an insight that bears further attention, in particular with regard to rural development policies and socio- economic opportunities for women. Young people, despite their thoughts about leaving home areas as adults, have generally positive attitudes and associations towards both their local communities and schools.
