Sažetak
Mislav Ježić also closely examines one Vedic text, but his text is the late Vedic Īśā Upaniṣad. This Upaniṣad has been transmitted in two recensions. By comparing them and parallel passages in other Upaniṣads, Ježić offers a reconstruction of the history of the text, a description of its compositional techniques, and an analysis of its intertextual relations. Such observations on the inner workings of the text also contribute to a clearer exegesis of the Upaniṣad. (Joel Brereton) The following presentation of the Mādhyaṃdina version of the Īśā-Upaniṣad is based on extraordinary work of Mislav Ježić. The Mādhyaṃdina version is, according to Ježić, the earliest version of the Īśā-Upaniṣad... we present here the earlier Mādhyaṃdina version with Ježić's suggested emendations and annotations since it represents the best current reconstruction of the original text.
