Sažetak
In the past twenty years the halogen bonding (XB) has been investigated as a useful supramolecular interaction for design and synthesis of new materials in solid state chemistry and crystal engineering.[1], [2] The majority of halogen bonded cocrystals designed to date are based on perfluorinated halogenated hydrocarbons as halogen bond donors, and Lewis bases (pyridines, amines, carbonyl compounds etc.) as halogen bond acceptors. Many halogen bonded complexes of 1, 2- and 1, 4-diiodotetrafluorobenzene (ditfb) with a broad spectrum of organic Lewis bases have been prepared and structurally characterized to date (40 structures for 1, 2- and 220 structures for 1, 4-ditfb deposited in CSD[3]), while such extensive studies with 1, 3-ditfb analogue have not yet been done. We will be presenting 9 novel cocrystals of 1, 3-ditfb with organic bases (ob) containing N, O, and S acceptor sites (6 pyridine derivatives, dabco, piperazine and thioxane) which have been structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction. It was found that prepared compounds crystalize in ob:ditfb ratio 1:1 or 2:1, regardless of the large excess of the corresponding base in all crystallization experiments. Within obtained crystal structures four different packing motifs have been noticed – discrete molecular complexes (1 compounds), hydrogen bonded networks of discrete molecular complexes (3 compounds), and two types of halogen bonded chains (5 compounds).
