Sažetak
Bologna process, as a result of a need shared by a number of countries based on a voluntary basis without any legal mandates/ legally binding and as a “most far reaching higher education reform process since World War II” (Kehm, 2010: 530) reflects the urgency for changes in European higher education caused by globalization. It has been regarded as the key pillar in transforming European Union (EU), an intergovernmental and supranational community of countries in Europe, into a knowledge-based society in order to strengthen competitiveness in the global market through developing a common European Higher Education Area (EHEA). With the emphasis on different systems and common goals, Bologna process has been widely recognized as the key model in adapting to globalization processes, a framework for success and a prime vehicle (Dale, 2008 ; de Wit and Verhoeven, 2001 in Neave and Amaral, 2008) in the construction of “Europe of Knowledge”. It has set an entirely new course for higher education in Europe (Toma-Bianov and Crăciun, 2010) where universities play a major role.
