Sažetak
Globalization is a complex and controversial process of building the world as a whole by creating a global institutional structures and global cultural forms. It is disclosed as the free market-economic, unification of the world, as well as a social, political, cultural and moral integration concerning certain core humanistic values essential for the sustainable development of mankind and life in general. On the other hand, contemporary globalization has caused intercultural tensions and conflicts, particularly in the context of the clash of civilizations. Accelerated globalization has caused the growth of supra-territorial communities. It has given stimulus to transnational cultural and religious bonding, particularly in universalistic religions. Thus, religious revitalization has produced the rise of collective identities which has frequently been shaped into a kind of non-territorial cultural protectionism. Globalization has encouraged religious revivalism which can also be understood as a revolt against modern secularism, as well as a defensive reaction against encroachments by global forces on established cultures. The actual culture based conflicts have to be replaced by an inter-cultural dialogue which can offer a reconceptualization and transformation of globalization, shaping a more humanized image of globalization.
