Sažetak
We measured hsC-reactive protein before and after 3 months of therapeutic interventions to manipulate the microbiota with probiotics one/day in 48 non-dialysis chronic kidney disease patients (20M/28F ; mean age 67±9 years, mean eGFR 42, 1±12ml/min/1.73m²). Patients were divided in two groups: group A was started with diet (reduction of intake of red meat on 2x weekly and add 50% more vegetables to the diet with 8-hour time restricted feeding) plus probiotics. Group B was with probiotics but without reduction of intake of red meat, with less vegetables and with no time restricted feeding. RESULT AND CONCLUSION Treatment with diet plus probiotics after 3 months caused a decrease in body mass index from 36.4±5.1 to 34±5 kg/m2, weight from 113±13 to 110±18 kg, and in waist circumference from 119±11 to 115±10 cm, hsC-reactive protein decreased by 8 % (group A) and 5% (group B). Kidney function measured with eGFR after 3 months in group A was 45, 3±11 ml/min/1.73m², and in group B was 42, 4±10 ml/min/1.73m² (p<0.05). The findings of this study suggest there is a positive association between the daily consumption of pre/probiotics in slowing progression of chronic kidney disease in patients groups. Strategies aimed at high-fiber diet with probiotics may enhance the well-being in chronic kidney disease patients by attenuating uremia-induced alteration of the gut microbiome. The plant-based diets with adding a pre/probiotics should be included as part of the clinical recommendations
