Sažetak
During the past few decades there has been an increasing interest towards the studies of the coordination compounds containing the hydrazone moiety due to their numerous biological activities (e.g. antifungal, antibacterial, antitumor, anti- inflammatory, antipyretic). Moreover, these complexes have been reported as analytical reagents, fluorescent materials and corrosion inhibitors.[1] The presented study examines the formation of various complexes containing cis-MoO2 2+ and 3- methoxysalicylaldehyde isonicotinoylhydrazone (H2L) moieties, and the factors that affect their formation. The conventional solution- based synthetic procedures included the selected aroylhydrazone ligand and [MoO2(acac)2], [MoO2Cl2] or [MoO2Br2(dmf)2] as starting Mo(VI) complex in dry methanol or acetonitrile. Depending on the reaction conditions, complexes [MoO2(L)(MeOH)], [MoO2(HL) (MeOH)]X (X = Cl or Br) and [MoO2(L)]n were attained. Also, specific synthetic procedures led to the formation of cocrystals of [MoO2(HL) (MeOH)]X·H2L' (X = Cl or Br), where H2L' represents the in situ produced 3- methoxysalicylaldehyde azine. All synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, IR spectroscopy, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy and powder X-ray diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction method was used to determine the crystal and molecular structures. In addition to the conventional solution-based methods, solid- state transformations were also explored. Finally, the cytotoxicity of complexes was evaluated against THP-1 and HepG2 cells while their antibacterial activity was assessed against S. aureus, E. faecalis, E. coli and M. catarrhalis by broth microdilution.
