Sažetak
The aim of the article is to discuss the specific Christian monotheism, i.e., Trinitarian monotheism, and its potential for pluralism. At the outset, the contemporary widespread belief that religion is the main cause of violence is questioned. In the second part, the consequences of the belief in Trinity and Incarnation for universal humanity are stressed. The two Trinitarian qualities, (respect of) freedom and love are presented as the only proper human response to God’s self-revelation. The third part deals with the existential consequences of this for Christian life. For Christians, the response to God’s revelation in and through freedom and love necessary includes all human beings without regard to their culture, worldview, or religion. In the fourth part, the uniqueness of Christianity will be argued for through the meaning of incarnation of the Son of God and the kenosis of God on the cross. Finally, in the conclusion, the main thesis that Trinitarian monotheism is pluralistic and not totalitarian is stated.
