Sažetak
Objectives: This research seeks for awareness assessment of risk factors for stroke among adults regarding to their age, gender, education, business status and family anamnesis. Furthermore, second purpose was to find out which risk factors are the most significant in population of participants. Also, examining the knowledge among adults about stroke aimed at finding a link between their knowledge and sociodemographic characteristics. Study design: A cross-sectional study was carried out in this research. Participants and methods: The research was conducted in 2020 and the data was collected with online questionnaire. There were 191 participants, the majority of whom are male. Their age range is between 30 and 71 years old. Most of them are highly educated and employed. A few of them have a positive family anamnesis. The respondents consciously and willingly filled out the questionnarie. Results: Participants between 30 and 50 years old are better informed about risk factors for stroke (P = 0, 01). Better knowledge about cerebrovascular insult was established in women in comparison to men (P < 0, 001). Significant difference was found in family anamnesis and knowledge (P = 0, 02). Participants in their 50’s and 60’s are more likely to have hypertension while men are tend to drink alcoholic beverages more frequently (47, 12 %). Conclusion: There are differences in awareness of adults about risk factors for cerebrovascular insult in regard to age, gender, education and work status. Also, a significant difference was found in the knowledge of 526 participants about stroke in correlation with gender, education and positive family anamnesis. Among the most significant risk factors in respondents, there are stress, hypertension, positive family anamnesis and smoking
