Sažetak
The operation of many technical and infrastructure systems today depends on information of accurate time. The timing information is usually provided by Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Thus, many systems whose final product is not related to positioning and navigation depend on GNSS, as it provides the key component crucial for their operation. GNSS are vulnerable to different intentional and unintentional disturbances and there is no guarantee for continuous availability of their signals. In order to suggest possible alternatives for GNSS timing, this paper lists some of the infrastructure systems in Croatia that would be affected in case of absence of GNSS signals, provides scenarios in which GNSS signals could potentially be unavailable or severely degraded, and explains potential alternatives that could provide timing synchronization of infrastructure systems.
