Sažetak
Introduction: The introduction of new technologies, in particular the Internet, opened new possibilities in continuing medical education such as e-learning. Over the last ten years over 40 e- courses have been conducted in cooperation with professional associations. Each successful e- test earns points for medical licence renewal. Objective: Describe e-learning processes on www.plivamed.net, with a special emphasis on cardiology courses. Methods: The candidates could download and study educational materials and take an e-test with 30 or 50 multiple choice questions, of which 60% had to be correct for a pass. The database of participants and their level of knowledge were analysed. Free answers in cardiology courses, i.e. principles of cardiovascular diseases and statins, were analysed separately. Results: 12, 788 people took e- courses, of whom 92% from Croatia. E-test was passed by 88% and failed by 3% ; 9% did not complete the test. We offered four cardiology courses, and 1206 people responded. The total of 62.4% candidates evaluated cardiology courses by awarding the highest grade to the stimulating effect (6.1±1.1) and the content's usefulness (6.0±1.2), and the lowest grade to the adequacy of duration of the test (5.0±1.4). Conclusion: A high number of people who took e-courses prove that there is a great interest in this type of education. Furthermore, a high percentage of successfully completed courses and good evaluation results are an additional proof of their quality. In order to leverage on the possibilities of modern technologies, the need for this type of education across the region should be further explored.
