Sažetak
Resultative constructions are those clauses in which, in addition to the main verb, there is a secondary predicate, respectively resultative. Resultative predicates the state that comes about for an argument in the event as a result of the action described by the main verb (Beavers, 2012). The aim of this study is to determine whether resultative constructions appear in HZJ, furthermore to determine the syntactic-semantic and moprfo-phonological interface in resultative constructions and finally to test whether Visibility Hypothesis (VH) is applicable on resultative constructions in HZJ. Materials used in this research were part of a database collected as a corpus of Croatian Sign Language, which were collected for comparison Croatian Sign Language (HZJ) and American Sign Language (ASL). One hearing adult participated in this research. Participiant is CODA (Children of Deaf Adult) and she is fluent in HZJ. The dana collected in this research was analyzed by descriptive analysis using the ELAN program specialized for linguistic analysis of sign language. Analysis of resultative constructions confirms their appearance in HZJ in two different forms. First one refers to real resultative constructions with one main verb and resultative in the same syntactic order as in spoken languages. Second one refers to those resultative constructions which are expressed by main verb as verb sandwich and resultative. Results confirmed the applicability of the Event Visiblity Hypothesis on resultative constructions in HZJ. These results are comparable to the results of researches in other sign languages. This research contributes to describing HZJ grammar.
