Sažetak
Smart tourism is defined as an innovative tourist destination, built on an infrastructure of stateof-the-art technology guaranteeing the sustainable development of tourist areas, accessible to everyone, which facilitates the visitor’s interaction with and integration into his or her surroundings, increases the quality of the experience at the destination, and improves residents’ quality of life. The main goal of creating smart tourism destinations is ultimately to improve the competitiveness of tourism organizations and destinations. Just as smart cities use sensors, technology and knowledge to collect and analyze data, so do smart tourism destinations use such data to enhance their tourism offer. The fact is that smart tourism destinations must embrace all the elements represented by the concept of a smart city, but the foundation for any new development must be smart management, facilitated by the use of new technologies. This secondary research collected and presented case studies and researches with examples of the implementation of smart concepts, as well as the main factors that influence the development of smart destinations.
