Sažetak
The main aim of our study was to test effects of intervention program (IP) in Physical Education (PE) on intrinsic motivation of adolescents (age 14-15) as we analyze their experiences before and after IP. Analyzing different experiences of IM we aim to study if there is a common category that integrates motivational experiences in students. We used ground theory of qualitative methods to analyze students’ essays and to compare the results with the results of previous quantitative studies with the same IP. We used open, selective and axial coding to reach saturation, subcategories, concept, main category and theory. Results of 53 participants showed positive effect of IP on students' IM. IM expressions resemble to manifestation of self- determination, flow experience, mindfulness, sparks, growth mindset associated with Positive Youth Development (PYD). They make six subcategories of the common concept that we define with one main category – “Purposeˮ. The study newly defines and views IM. “Purposeˮ as the main motivation need is manifested in different ways. Future studies that involve triangulation of methods may result in new definition and descriptions of IM which, further on, may result in formation of integral motivation theory. IP that was tested in the study can be practically applied in future education program that fosters motivation of students and athletes. IP may be applied in social business where youth is educated not be job seekers but those who by motivation, creativity and skill become socially responsible entrepreneurs and contribute realization of UN Social Development Goals 2030.
