Sažetak
Communication and information technologies now affect most aspects of our lives including healthcare. Internet has its roots in ARPAnet (Advanced Research Projects network), a computer network developed by the United States Department of Defense in late 1960s. Global expansion of Internet starts in late '80s and especially during '90s. Due to the Internet communication revolution has been started. Future of computer linkage brings new conception into communication between EEBA members, electronic mail, video-conferencing and telemedicine. Electronic mail enables fast correspondence, exchange of attached files, scientific articles and digital pictures. Video conferencing in its most basic form is the transmission of image and speech back and forth between two or more physically separate locations. Video conferencing brings organizational and cross-organizational meetings improvement and distance education. Telemedicine is the sending of information, in the form of voice, photographs or video to perform a medical consultation or diagnosis. Lions Croatian Eye Bank during XII conference of the European Eye Bank Association got priviledge to become an organizor of the EEBA web site, as well as informatical coordinator of the European Eye Bank Association, realisation of the European Eye Bank Association web site project started shortly after XII conference of the European Eye Bank Association held at &Aring ; ; rhus, Denmark. www.eeba.net is the universal resouce locator (URL) that directs internet surfers to the web site of the European Eye Bank Association. We have also organised the first ophthalmological teleeducational conection in Croatia between two cities, Zagreb and Split, when we conected two distant clinics with the 3 BRI ISDN links and made possible for doctors from Split to interactivly participate to the operations performed by the best Croatian PHACO surgeons, and to ask questions related to the operations and operation technics, during the surgery.
